Back punch:taking on attacks from all sides

Once you have perfected some punches, you must focus on taking on targets from different angles. This one is where, after punching with your left and right hand, you use your elbow in a backward sweep to hit anybody behind you.
To this, your guard position has to be perfect. Just as soon as you finish your straight punch (or any other punch) bring your hands back into guard position. By now, this must be done automatically.
Then twisting from the waist, lifting your elbow up, you turn it around fast to get the person behind you. The legs remain in their natural balanced state of readiness with the feet turning ever so slightly but firmly to accommodate the full twist you need to complete, the make the delivery powerful and effective.

This way, you can take on people in the front and the back.
Requires practice to ensure
  • power
  • co-ordination
  • perfect twist.
Such twists also challenge your sense of balance. Beginners may even feel dizzy when they try it. It is ideal for those who have had a few months of rigorous practice.

Along the way, the waist is toned powerfully. This point is made for those who use kick-boxing as a fitness or body-contouring tool. That seems to be its moot attraction in India, just now:(
