The one-handed push up. The supporting hand is also clenched, which just shows the power u needed to build up for the real hardcore Muay Thai. The clenched fist must never open for a true punch and here is where u learn the stamina needed to maintain that. Also, the fast movement of the push-up creates the upper body strength that is needed to carry the punch forward, in full force. A punch has a lot of coiled strength that comes from the rest of the body, esp the hips. As you can see to maintain the high hip height in this pose and pushing down from that also engages the hips completely. This makes it a very exciting preparatory practice for Muay Thai.
Why Clenched fist?
Ups the challenge considerably, by making a balance tricky.
It makes your knuckles and fist stronger, conditioning for real punches.
What is worked out?
Your arms for sure. But actually your chest and upper body strength.
And maintain the proper form, your hips are completely engaged.
